Transportation Coordinator

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for optimizing route planning of finished goods and raw materials in addition to meeting the customers’ and manufacturing plant needs. The handling of shipment exceptions such as delayed, lost, and over/short discrepancies. Identifies areas for continual improvement to streamline processes and reduce costs. Identify areas requiring improvement in the operations area for facilitating shipping and receiving goods. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Route Planning: Optimize delivery schedules and plan efficient routes to reduce costs and meet deadlines. Dispatching & Tracking: Coordinate with carriers, monitor, track and trace live shipments. Issue Resolution: Handle over, short, and damaged (OS&D) freight claims, address traffic delays, and fix shipping errors. Compliance: Problem solving: Transportation coordinators use problem-solving skills to deal with lost or delayed shipments, manage new routes, address client complaints, and schedule carriers. Finding a solution while also providing superior customer service is essential to this role. Strategic thinking: This role requires strategic thinking skills to plan shipments and improve efficiency. Developing a strategy to evaluate business objectives, prioritize shipments, plan routes, and reduce costs can help you find success in this position. Build relationships : stakeholders, internal team members, customers, and carriers Education and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred in supply chain management, business or logistics ; with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in logistics or supply chain In-depth knowledge of transportation industry Proficiency in transportation management software. Accounting abilities to accurately manage load rate changes, discrepancies and analyze financial data and generate financial reports Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Great communication and collaboration skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Willingness to provide operational support outside of business hours.
