Senior Project Accountant $90000 - $120000 per year | Bedford Park, IL | On-site | Permanent subcontractor and utility contractor A bit about us: Position: Senior Project Accountant Location: Chicago, IL Industry: Construction (Specialty Contracting / Infrastructure) Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to oversee full-cycle project accounting for active construction and utility projects. In this role, you will manage project financials from start to finish, working closely with project managers and executives to ensure accurate job costing, timely progress billings, and financial compliance across all active operations. Full-time position full benefits 401k PTO career growth Job Details Key Responsibilities: Full-Cycle Project Accounting: Oversee full-cycle financial management for multiple active projects simultaneously, ensuring accurate job costing, revenue recognition, and timely billing from contract start to closeout. Billings & Compliance: Prepare, review, and process AIA billing documents (G702/G703), sworn statements, and lien waivers for specialty contracting operations. Financial Management & WIP: Maintain Work in Progress (WIP) reports, perform job-cost tracking, monitor change orders, and lead month-end financial reporting and forecasting. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee project AP/AR cycles, vendor payments, retainage tracking, and subcontractor lien release verifications. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Project Managers, Operations, and Leadership to address budget variances and streamline project financial workflows. Qualifications & Experience: Experience: 5+ years of dedicated project accounting experience within the construction or specialty subcontracting sectors. Technical Skills: Hands-on proficiency with industry-standard construction management and accounting software (e.g., Sage 100, Yardi, Procore, or QuickBooks). Core Knowledge: Strong expertise in AIA billing, sworn statements, lien waiver processes, job-cost accounting, and WIP analysis.
