Education

• High School Graduate or Equivalent

Experience / Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience required
• Basic Rhythm Strip interpretation exam with a passing score of 80% or higher.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification for Health Care Providers.

Position Summary

The Monitor Technician is a nursing team member who interprets cardiac monitor, working under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

• Provides continuous cardiac monitoring observation and documentation of cardiac rhythm on a routine basis. The Monitor Tech communicates changes in the cardiac rhythm to the charge nurse and primary nurse.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods.  The team member will need to frequently assist in lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, make sound decisions, be detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift to 50lbs.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Threshold Requirements

  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
