Classification Title: Producer I FLSA: Exempt FTE: 1.00 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent Position Summary: The Senior Content Producer helps WUGA-FM tell the stories that matter to the Athens and Northeast Georgia community and reports to the News Director. This position will be responsible for editorial and production planning for daily and weekly news programs, including topic selection, story ideas, and guest selection and booking. This position will develop a range of news, information, and entertainment consistent with the mission of public radio, the University of Georgia, and Georgia Public Broadcasting and work with full-time and part-time radio staff to assist in recording and editing and to ensure that the final product meets editorial, production, and technical standards. The Senior Content Producer will also produce stories for air in other parts of WUGA’s schedule and on daily newscasts, as well as initiate and maintain productive and mutually beneficial relationships with units at the University, Georgia Public Broadcasting, and communities within the station’s service area. The incumbent will work closely with the News Director and collaborate with the Program Director to identify opportunities to expand the reach, scope, and variety of WUGA News through compelling journalism, on‑air hosting, special projects, and field reporting as needed. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Proficiency with Adobe Audition software and audio recording equipment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge or familiarity with project management software, like Asana. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in a newsroom. Physical Demands: Work in standard office environment. Duties/Responsibilities: Content Production and Hosting Develop and produce news content and other programming airing on WUGA-FM. Research topics, coordinate guests, conduct interviews, and develop story ideas. Conduct field reporting and anchor daily newscasts as needed. Capture audio, photos, and videos as needed to support content. Prepare content for the station’s digital channels. Percentage of time: 60 Duties/Responsibilities: News Operations, Training, and Partnerships Participate in editorial and production planning for news programs, including topic selection, story ideas, and guest booking. Manage Asana newsroom workflow and assign stories Edit student work and develop training materials for students. Participate in joint projects and special programs with UGA academic units and community partners. Work with Advisory Council to utilize connections for interviews and stories.
