Registered Nurse Critical Care ED/ICU - Part Time Days

Position Summary Registered Nurses are critical members of the team who diagnose and treat responses to actual or potential health problems by means of nursing methods and techniques such as case finding, health teaching, and counseling. Incumbents provide supportive and restorative care while adhering to a medical regimen. Job Duties Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate care activities with other health disciplines. Develop a written individualized care plan that includes teaching needs and discharge planning. Administer direct care when professional nursing skills and judgment are needed. Administer medication. Practice infection control and participate in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Assume responsibility and accountability for the delivery of nursing care to all assigned patients; communicate changes in patient’s condition to Charge RN/Clinician. Maintain current written plan of care for assigned patients; set priorities and goals with the patient and/or family. Document evidence in the medical record of patient/family teaching and their understanding. Communicate and work effectively with other staff and departments. Participate in unit or hospital-based quality assurance activities or committees. Required Experience & Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse. Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certifications. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Critical Care Nursing (Intensive Care Unit or Emergency Department). Preferred Experience & Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred (under New York State Law, all RNs licensed on or after June 18, 2020 must obtain a BSN within 10 years of initial licensure). Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) (Adult) certification preferred. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred. Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly for extended periods, especially during emergencies. Assist with patient transfers, repositioning, and physical interventions when needed. Lifting and/or transferring patients, including those who may be physically aggressive or uncooperative. Handle equipment and supplies needed for emergency care. React quickly to situations involving restraint, agitation, or aggression; provide physical support when necessary. Use medical instruments, perform assessments, administer medications, and manage equipment with precision. Perform tasks such as documenting patient information, administering injections, or manipulating medical equipment. Maintain physical and mental alertness during long shifts, including night shifts and weekends. Manage high‑stress situations with clear decision‑making and physical capacity. Handle emotional and physical challenges of caring for patients who may be agitated or experiencing mental health crises. Respond quickly and take rapid action, including using restraint procedures if required. Demonstrate high level of alertness, physical engagement, and responsiveness, especially when dealing with acute psychiatric distress.
