Accountant Analyst

We are seeking an Accountant Analyst to support the Gas Turbine Fuel Systems Division at the Devens, MA site. Reporting to the Devens/Naples Accounting Manager, this position will play an important role in supporting business growth, profitability, financial reporting, internal controls, and operational decision-making. The Accountant Analyst will work closely with functional leaders and managers to provide strong financial analysis and business partnering. This role will be responsible for safeguarding and maintaining the integrity of site assets and ensuring accounting activities are performed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The position will support the Devens site, which represents approximately $79M in revenue, with responsibilities including budgeting, forecasting, internal control oversight, financial reporting, financial performance measurement, financial system implementation, technical accounting support, and continuous improvement. Prepare general ledger, asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing moderately complex account information. Prepare and analyze balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other management reports. Prepare diverse and complex financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and financial trends. Reconcile financial discrepancies by researching, collecting, and analyzing account information. Perform financial and economic analysis related to rates of return, depreciation, working capital, investments, and financial and expense comparisons. Analyze profit and loss statements and income statements to identify business trends and opportunities. Provide management with accounting information necessary to support business decisions. Recommend financial actions to management by analyzing accounting alternatives and options. Support budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting activities. Apply strong cost accounting knowledge, including standard costing and understanding how operational activities impact the P&L and Balance Sheet. Support internal controls and compliance activities, including auditing compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Maintain financial security by following established accounting policies and internal controls. Research and interpret complex accounting policies, regulations, and procedures to resolve accounting questions. Write and recommend accounting policies and procedures as required. Apply continuous improvement techniques to internal accounting processes and systems. Support automation initiatives using tools such as Excel Macros and Power BI. Work closely with Operations to understand financial impacts and identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and cost reduction. Lead or participate in special project teams and high-level cross-functional initiatives. Support financial system implementation and process improvement projects. Ensure compliance with federal and state legal requirements, professional standards, and applicable accounting regulations. Study existing and new legislation, enforce compliance requirements, and advise management on required actions. Establish goals and objectives required to successfully complete assigned projects. Train and mentor less experienced employees. Share specialized accounting and financial knowledge with team members. Represent the company on high-level projects as assigned. Contribute to overall team objectives and support cross-functional responsibilities, including continuous improvement initiatives. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting methods, and concepts. General knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and/or Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial analysis. Strong understanding of cost accounting and standard costing. Proficiency with automated accounting systems, spreadsheet applications, and standard business software. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to effectively communicate and present financial information to team members and leaders. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and team environments. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Previous manufacturing accounting experience. Aerospace manufacturing experience is highly preferred. Experience working with Operations on financial analysis, process improvement, or cost reduction initiatives. Experience developing or implementing automation projects using Excel Macros, Power BI, or similar tools. Strong experience with standard cost and operational impacts on P&L and Balance Sheet. Experience with internal controls and compliance. Experience with continuous improvement methodologies. Experience leading or participating in cross-functional projects. Onsite accounting and manufacturing environment. Regular interaction with Accounting, Finance, Operations, Engineering, and other functional leaders. Cross-functional collaboration on financial, operational, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
