Accounting Assistant

Job Summary

Ensures accurate accounting records for receipts and/or disbursements within the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

• Performs a variety of clerical and entry-level bookkeeping and accounting tasks, applying accepted procedures to the preparation and maintenance of accounting and other records, and preparing financial, statistical, and/or technical reports.
• Receives and/or distributes funds related to the assigned area of responsibility.
• Posts journal, ledger, or voucher books of accounts from supporting data by hand or machine.
• Balances individual account books.
• Verifies computer printouts reflecting status of accounts.
• Issues checks from departmental accounts.
• Prepares and mails bills or statements or prepares lists of outstanding bills payable.
• Computes and records charges, refunds, or cost of lost or damaged goods.
• May prepare summary sheets or other work papers for supervisors use in preparing comprehensive financial statements.
• May audit and proof accounting or other reports for clerical accuracy and conformance to departmental procedures.

Education: High school diploma or GED (accredited) Experience: Zero (0) to four (4) years of relevant experience (in addition to education requirements)

Normal setting for this job is: hybrid office setting in Windsor, CT.

The expected base pay range for this hybrid position across the U.S. is $21.74-$31.26/hour. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
