Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.

Unacceptable Certificates: Typing certificates issued by the Internet or Employment Agencies, and Typing Certificates issued for a typing test under five (5) minutes are not acceptable.

Acceptable certificate:

State departments will honor typing certificates issued within the last four years, and certified from a five (5) minute typing test that meets the CalHR requirements, with a minimum of 40 WPM (words per minute).

  • To be considered valid, the typing certificate must have been issued within the last four years, must be certified from a typing test of at least five minutes in length, and must have been proctored either virtually or in person.

  The completed SOQ shall not be more than one page, single-spaced, in Calibri font. Placed in the top left corner of the page, your document title must include “Statement of Qualifications”, your full name, and the job code listed in the job posting. In the body of your SOQ, describe your knowledge and experience related to the prompts below. Number each of your responses and include the question prompt prior to each individual response to clearly indicate which prompt you are responding to. A notation or reference to other materials such as resumes or applications will not be considered and will not substitute for the SOQ.
