Accountant

Accountant Exempt/Non Exempt: Non-Exempt Position Description: Under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant is responsible for the agency’s financial and accounting recordkeeping and reporting. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities Perform accurate and timely accounting functions, such as vendor invoice processing, Payroll, Purchase Requisitions, Bank statement reconciliation, Payment schedules, Cash receipts and bank deposits, Record receipts and disbursements including Petty Cash, Maintain Ledgers and Journals using MIP Fund Accounting Software. Prepare accounting and financial reports. Prepare monthly invoices for funders. File all financial and related correspondence. Gather supporting documentation for audits. Manage cash flow and inform senior management of financial and budget status. Strictly implement accounting policies and procedures while maintaining professionalism. Other duties as assigned by the CFO. Experience and Skills Required degree in Accounting. Two full years of experience in non-profit/fund accounting. Knowledge of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and computer accounting programs. Understanding and knowledge of working with non-profit organizations. Computer literacy (MIP accounting software and MS Excel). Organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated. Excellent interpersonal communication (written and oral) skills and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Spanish speaking preferred. Hours: 40 hours per week M-F 10-7 PM. Some weekends and evenings may be required. Salary and Benefits: $27-$30 per hour. Commensurate with education and experience.
