Position Overview
The Director of Operations will lead and optimize all operational functions across construction and mechanical projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining high safety and quality standards. This role is responsible for strategic planning, budget management, process improvement, and cross-functional leadership to drive efficiency, profitability, and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for day-to-day operations across construction and mechanical divisions, aligning activities with company goals.
• Develop, manage, and report on annual operating budgets; monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions to meet targets.
• Oversee project planning and execution, ensuring schedules, resources, materials, and subcontractors are coordinated to meet quality and safety standards.
• Implement and continuously improve operational processes, standard operating procedures, and performance metrics to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Lead, mentor, and develop operations managers, site supervisors, and field staff; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
• Drive health, safety, and environmental compliance across all sites; champion safety programs and incident prevention initiatives.
• Collaborate with business development, estimating, procurement, and engineering to support accurate bidding, cost control, and constructability.
• Manage relationships with clients, suppliers, regulatory agencies, and key stakeholders to ensure expectations are met and risks are mitigated.
• Evaluate, select, and implement technology and systems (ERP, project management tools) that improve operational visibility and decision-making.
• Prepare and present operational performance reports and strategic recommendations for senior leadership and the board.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive operations experience in construction or mechanical services with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or director role.
• Proven experience in budgeting, financial management, cost control, and contract administration on mid-to-large scale construction projects.
• Strong mechanical background with hands-on understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, develop talent, and manage multiple concurrent projects in fast-paced environments.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methods, safety regulations, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with experience working directly with clients and regulators.
• Proficiency with project management and ERP systems, scheduling software (Primavera or MS Project), and advanced Excel skills.
• Certifications such as PMP, CCM, or Professional Engineer (PE) are a plus.
• Ability to travel to job sites as required and work flexible hours to meet project demands.
