Level up your career through a large network and specialty training.If you're passionate about making a difference, apply today to join us in serving the community!Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYThis person will perform skilled and semi-skilled grounds maintenance related to Facilities Management operations and County support services including high visibility landscaping, memorial tree and nursery maintenance, and project construction on County-owned and leased facilities. This person is responsible to provide a clean and safe environment for visitors, tenants and employees while being a crew leader and working independently with minimal supervision.The employee in this position is classified as an essential employee and will be required to work when the County offices are officially closed due to inclement weather, natural disaster, other emergency situations, etc. Weekend/Holiday work as requiredREPORTING RELATIONSHIPSThis person reports to the Assistant Grounds Superintendent, position #00500289, at the Park location.This person may work directly with other grounds personnel and/or function as a crew leader working with seasonal grounds workers.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPerform routine grounds maintenance on County owned and leased properties, includes operating hand and power tools (i.e. chainsaw, power pruner, weed whacker, handsaw, pruner, leaf blower, snow blower, etc.)Assist the Asst. Grounds Superintendent with the memorial tree programAssist the Asst. Grounds Superintendent with the maintenance and planting in the Dr. John Moss Tree NurseryAssist the Asst. Grounds Superintendent with the maintenance of the Garden of Five Senses and other high-visibility landscaped bed areasPerform routine grounds maintenance on County owned and leased properties, includes operating medium to heavy equipment (i.e. commercial mower, tractor, skid loader, snow plow, etc.)Assist Grounds Crew with routine grounds maintenance at other FM locationsAssist Trails Crew with tree/or trail work at other FM locationsApply herbicide, as needed at all FM locationsSafely operate a pickup truck (with or without trailer) / equipmentSnow removal duties at all County properties including shoveling, snow blowing, plowing with truck and/or tractorAbility to follow County and Departmental Policies and ProceduresOTHER SPECIFIC TASKS OR DUTIESPlow or salt Park roads and parking lotsPerform basic equipment and vehicle maintenanceOversee seasonal work in the fieldAbility to operate a computer to navigate the internet and use Windows platform (Outlook, Excel, Word)Creates, sends, receives, reads and responds to emailWorks with a computer based work order system to track tasksPaintCollect and haul trash and recyclablesPerform janitorial/custodial dutiesPerform playground maintenancePerform other duties, as requiredMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum one year experience in commercial lawn care, landscaping or related position or equivalent training in vocational or trade schoolHigh school diploma or GED requiredApplicant must have basic computer skills that include using email, navigating the internet, creating spreadsheets and documentsAthletic field maintenance a plus, (i.e. baseball infield grooming, turf grass management, basketball and tennis court maintenance, etc.Equipment experienceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to understand and follow oral and written directionsAbility to work well with minimum supervision, self-motivated.Ability to work well alone and with othersAbility to assist supervisor in his/her absencePA Dept of Agriculture Core Applicator Certification and PA Dept of Ag Category 23 Applicator Certification is preferred or ability to achieve both within six months of employment.
