X-ray (Radiologic) Tech

Performs radiologic treatments for patients. Responsible for pre-treatment services and delivery of radiologic treatment. Arranges treatment appointments. Delivers radiation to patients in accordance with physician's instructions. Operates all types of radiotherapy equipment, including Cobalt Therapy Unit, Linear Accelerator, and Simulator. Operates simulator for localization of tumor size and position. Takes contours and collects all physical factors for treatment plans. Performs dosimetry for treatment plans. Takes photographs of patients for portal verifications. Recognizes all types of radiation reactions and provides proper care and instructions to patients. Educates patients about radiation therapy reactions and lifestyle modifications. Instructs incoming residents and technologists in the use of equipment. Prepares cerrobend alloy blocks. Fabrics plastic holders for blocks. Constructs and fabricates patient immobilization devices. Takes and develops radiographs. Maintains a neat and orderly patient management room. Coordinates department activities to provide proper patient care. Transports inpatients when necessary. Ensures the proper functioning and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and walking throughout the working day. Position will require stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying items weighing up to 75 pounds.
