Bower Santa Monica is a new restaurant opening this September at the Colorado Center, a premier 15-acre office campus in Santa Monica. Bower, spanning 6,500 square feet, brings together California Coastal cuisine with influences from Australian café culture as well as Mediterranean and Southeast Asian flavors. From daytime espresso, grain bowls, and smoothies to evening shareable plates, whole-grilled fish, and cocktails.

Founded by restaurateur Dave Harper (Bondi Harvest, Amigo Roasters, Likeminded Wellness Club, El Chucho) in partnership with BXP and New School Hospitality, Bower is rooted in a love of surfing, coastal living, and genuine community. With warm, earthy interiors, open-air accordion doors, and an outdoor patio, we're creating a laid-back yet vibrant gathering space for the people who work, live, and play on the Westside.

Position Overview 

As a Barista at Bower, you play an essential role in creating memorable guest experiences through exceptional coffee, beverage preparation, and genuine hospitality. You are often one of the first interactions guests have with our concept, setting the tone for their visit with friendly service, attention to detail, and efficiency. The ideal candidate has a passion for specialty coffee, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering consistently high-quality beverages while creating meaningful connections with guests.

• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
• Previous barista or specialty coffee experience preferred
• Experience operating commercial espresso equipment preferred
• Strong communication, multitasking, and guest service skills
• Passion for coffee, hospitality, and creating exceptional guest experiences
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain one) preferred

• Prepare espresso beverages, coffee, tea, smoothies, and other specialty drinks to Bower standards
• Maintain consistency in beverage quality, presentation, and taste
• Greet guests warmly, take food and beverage orders, and provide menu recommendations
• Operate, clean, and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and café equipment
• Keep beverage stations clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout service
• Monitor café inventory and communicate restocking needs to management
• Communicate guest allergies, dietary restrictions, and special requests accurately
• Complete opening, closing, and side work duties
• Collaborate with FOH, BOH, and management to ensure smooth daily operations
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and company standards while delivering exceptional hospitality

Compensation and Benefits 

• $18.50/hour
• Additional tip earnings
