About the Role:

The VP of Engineering is a key member of Ndustrial’s leadership team, responsible for leading, developing, and scaling our engineering organization while ensuring the team delivers against the company’s most important priorities.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role requires a proven engineering leader who understands what it takes to build and lead teams in an early-stage, high-growth environment. The VP of Engineering will create clarity and accountability across the organization, develop and motivate a high-performing team, and ensure engineering priorities and execution are closely aligned with company objectives.

We are an AI-forward engineering organization, and this leader will help ensure our team is effectively using modern AI tools and practices to improve how we build, solve problems, and deliver value to customers. This is a people-oriented leadership role for someone who knows how to get things done through others and can build an engineering organization that consistently executes, grows, and adapts as the company evolves.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, develop, and motivate a high-performing engineering team, creating clear expectations, ownership, and accountability.
• Translate company objectives into clear engineering priorities and ensure the team understands both what they are working toward and why it matters.
• Manage team and individual performance against defined objectives, providing direct feedback, coaching, and addressing performance issues when expectations are not being met.
• Champion an AI-forward engineering culture, ensuring the team effectively uses AI-assisted tools across design, development, testing, problem-solving, and decision-making to improve both speed and quality.
• Bring firsthand experience navigating the early-stage startup lifecycle, knowing when to introduce structure and process, when to move quickly with imperfect information, and how to keep teams focused and executing as company priorities evolve.
• Partner with Product and other leaders to identify opportunities to incorporate AI into our platform and deliver meaningful customer value.
• Provide strong technical judgment across architecture, cloud infrastructure, SaaS development, AI-enabled capabilities, security, reliability, and scalability while empowering the team to own implementation.
• Own engineering execution, balancing speed, quality, scalability, technical health, and available resources.
• Create visibility into engineering priorities, progress, capacity, risks, and tradeoffs for the CEO and leadership team.
• Report directly and partner closely with the CEO by proactively bringing recommendations, surfacing risks, providing context, and constructively challenging assumptions when appropriate.
• Serve as an active member of the leadership team, contributing to company strategy, priorities, organizational decisions, and growth beyond the engineering function.
• Build strong partnerships across Product, Sales, Customer Success, Operations, and other functions to align Engineering with customer and business needs.
• Drive decisions and execution in an environment with ambiguity, changing priorities, and limited resources.
• Build a culture that reflects what motivates strong startup talent: ownership, autonomy, urgency, collaboration, accountability, and meaningful impact.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience with significant engineering leadership and people management experience.
• Proven engineering leadership experience within an early-stage, venture-backed technology company, with firsthand experience building and leading teams through periods of rapid growth, changing priorities, ambiguity, and organizational evolution.
• Proven track record building strong engineering teams, developing talent, setting clear expectations, and holding individuals and teams accountable for results.
• Strong technical foundation with experience overseeing modern cloud-based SaaS products.
• Experience leading teams that use modern AI-assisted development tools and/or build AI-enabled product capabilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
