About the Position

Job Title: RN - OR Circulator Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Operating Room Circulator Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Evening, 5 x 8s, M - F Hours per Shift: 0600 to 2030; schedule and start times rotate Experience: One year previous full-time experience in the operating room required License: Current RN license in the state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred; Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) preferred Description: Assists surgeons and anesthesia providers during surgical procedures. Coordinates the flow of equipment, supplies, and staff during surgery. Ensures patient safety throughout the perioperative phase of care. Participates in patient care planning, assessment, and nursing treatment. Demonstrates competency in circulating in the operating room during surgical procedures. Applies the principles of aseptic technique consistently and competently. Safely operates all equipment routinely utilized in the operating room. Prepares patients for surgery, including safe and appropriate anatomical positioning. Performs pre, intra, and post-procedure patient care planning and assessment following established criteria. Handles and disposes of biohazardous materials from operative procedures safely. Accesses facility information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent information for provision of patient care. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to fulfill job-specific responsibilities related to patient safety, security, and emergency preparedness. Documents temperature of tissue or allografts, verifies package integrity, and delivers to the sterile field. Efficiently uses downtime for job-related or unit-specific work, including chart auditing, cleaning, and restocking. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Organizational Requirements: All associates are required to receive all vaccinations as a condition of employment. Exemptions may apply for medical and religious reasons.
