Target Security Specialist

Starting Hourly Rate $22.25 USD per hour. All About Assets Protection Assets Protection (AP) teams function to keep our guests, team and brand secure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing, and resolving theft and fraud to ensure product is available for our guest. They also build relationships inside and outside of Target, including store leaders and public safety officials, inclusive of law enforcement. Role of a Target Security Specialist Using intelligence‑led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure; crisis response, safety, and crowd management; de‑escalation and physical security controls; use of Target's video surveillance system; timely documentation using case management systems. Responsibilities Greet guests within 10 ft, be friendly – smile, make eye contact, or wave. Greet guests within 4 ft, smile and initiate a warm interaction. Help guests find what they need and resolve issues for a smooth shopping experience. End every transaction with a sincere thank you. Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude. Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience. Promote a physical security culture by assessing and maintaining safe standards throughout the store, including exterior property. Respond to and accurately document security incidents promptly. Appropriately respond to guest issues to provide a safe environment. Use de‑escalation tactics when handling incidents across the store. Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and support apprehension as needed, following AP policies. Prevent theft and shortage at the front by performing merchandise receipt checks and recognizing trends. Submit documentation in the case management system for all incidents following AP policy. Understand and use Target's video surveillance system. Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance. Work safely at all times, comply with safety policies, report hazards. Perform additional duties as needed per business needs. Qualifications At least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent. Meet state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements. Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and teammates. Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners. Effective communication skills. Work independently and with a team. Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently. Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment. Climb ladders. Apprehend subjects per company policy. Move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 40 lbs. Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays). Work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements. Remain mobile during shifts.
