Salary Range: $110,000 to $150,000 annually

• Bring a field-informed perspective to site visits and pre-bid meetings, evaluating access, project constraints, constructability, risks, and opportunities.
• Turn drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents into detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor takeoffs; check dimensions and resolve scope inconsistencies.
• Build dependable pricing coverage by soliciting supplier and subcontractor quotes, comparing bids on a consistent basis, and clarifying exclusions.
• Develop estimates from early concepts through detailed pricing, accounting for labor, equipment, materials, temporary facilities, general conditions, escalation, and contingency.
• Help assemble responsive, competitive proposals by checking solicitation requirements, preparing bid summaries and comparisons, and coordinating bid-day activities and final reviews.
• Explain the estimate clearly through written narratives, clarifications, reports, and management presentations that make assumptions and decisions easy to follow.
• Keep estimating databases and historical cost records organized and useful for future pursuits.
• Test assumptions with operations, project managers, engineers, and procurement during estimate reviews, then support a well-documented handoff after award.

• Required: 5+ years of construction experience, including hands-on estimating work.
• Required: strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, cost models, and bid tabulations; confident plan interpretation and quantity takeoff skills.
• A practical command of construction methods, production, and scheduling, backed by strong math, cost forecasting, risk analysis, and value-engineering judgment.
• A degree in civil or mechanical engineering, another related engineering field, or construction management; relevant field or estimating experience can substitute for a degree.
• Preferred: heavy civil, structures, transit, or transportation construction experience, particularly field engineering on heavy civil projects; interest in civil, structures, or transit estimating is also valued.
• Helpful, not required: Word, PowerPoint, P6 scheduling, Agtek, Bluebeam, and/or HCSS software.
• Clear, credible communication with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams, including presentations and written qualifications, RFIs, and estimate narratives.
• Ability to travel occasionally and navigate uneven terrain during pre-bid site investigations, with reasonable accommodation as applicable.
