Compensation: $150,000 - $165,000 + bonus (depending on experience)

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting & Billing Operations to lead and scale the organization's end-to-end revenue and billing function. This role will oversee the full order-to-cash cycle, including contract intake, usage data, invoicing, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and monthly close activities.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in ASC 606 and SaaS revenue recognition, with direct experience managing revenue recognition for usage-based or consumption-based arrangements. This is a highly hands-on leadership role with significant responsibility for improving processes, automating manual workflows, strengthening data integrity, and preparing the organization for continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end order-to-cash process, including contract intake, usage data capture, invoicing, collections support, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and accounts receivable.
\n
• Own revenue recognition for usage-based arrangements, including variable consideration, minimum commitments, overages, tiered pricing, volume pricing, true-ups, and breakage.
\n
• Prepare and maintain ASC 606 accounting memos and support revenue recognition policies.
\n
• Lead monthly and quarterly revenue close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, revenue schedules, and variance analysis.
\n
• Oversee billing accuracy and timeliness, including invoice preparation, customer inquiries, dispute resolution, and collections coordination.
\n
• Serve as the primary revenue and billing contact for external audits and support SOX controls and IPO-readiness initiatives.
\n
• Identify, design, and implement automation opportunities across revenue accounting, billing, and close processes to reduce manual work and improve scalability.
\n
• Partner with cross-functional teams to improve data quality, system configuration, usage-data integrity, and billing processes.
\n
• Review deal structures and contract terms with Sales, Revenue Operations, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate billing and revenue treatment.
\n
• Optimize existing financial systems and reporting tools while evaluating new technology when appropriate.
\n
• Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to improve accounting workflows and operational efficiency.
\n
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of three accounting professionals while establishing scalable processes and technical standards.
\n
• Maintain revenue accounting and billing policies in accordance with accounting standards, pricing models, and business changes.

Qualifications:

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
\n
• CPA required.
\n
• 8+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience, including at least 2 years of direct management experience.
\n
• Deep knowledge of ASC 606 and SaaS revenue recognition.
\n
• Hands-on experience with usage-based or consumption-based revenue models, including variable consideration, minimums, overages, tiered pricing, and true-ups.
\n
• Demonstrated ownership of an end-to-end billing or order-to-cash process.
\n
• Proven experience implementing accounting automation and improving manual processes.
\n
• Experience partnering with Revenue Operations, Salesforce, Data, Engineering, or other cross-functional teams on data quality and systems initiatives.
\n
• Advanced proficiency with financial systems; NetSuite and NetSuite ARM experience strongly preferred.
\n
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work with large data sets.
\n
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot to improve accounting processes.
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical accounting and systems concepts to non-accounting stakeholders and leadership.
\n
• Proactive, hands-on leadership style with a demonstrated ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and execute improvements.
