Scaffold Helper

The Scaffold Helper assists scaffold builders and craft personnel with the assembly, modification, inspection, and dismantling of scaffolding systems used in industrial and construction environments. This position performs manual labor, material handling, and general support duties while maintaining compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and site-specific requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous industrial, construction, or labor experience preferred but not required. Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings and site-specific requirements. Must be able to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions. Must be able to physically perform duties requiring lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, and prolonged standing. Ability to obtain and maintain required safety certifications. Basic understanding of construction and industrial work environments. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Knowledge of common hand tools and equipment preferred. Ability to identify and report unsafe conditions. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn scaffold building techniques and procedures.

Essential Functions

Assist scaffold builders with the erection, modification, and dismantling of scaffolding systems. Load, unload, transport, stage, and organize scaffold materials and equipment. Clean and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment. Inspect scaffold components for damage and report deficiencies to supervision. Assist in securing scaffolding materials and maintaining proper housekeeping standards. Follow all company, customer, and site-specific safety procedures. Participate in safety meetings, training, and job briefings. Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE). Support other craft personnel as directed by supervision. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, climb, balance, and count materials. Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and upper-body movements associated with material handling. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and handle heavier materials or equipment using appropriate assistance or material-handling equipment. Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work from scaffolds, elevated work platforms, pipe racks, and other industrial work areas as required. Ability to work on uneven, muddy, rocky, or otherwise variable walking and working surfaces. Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, cold, rain, wind, and other weather conditions. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, face shield, gloves, hearing protection, FR clothing, steel-toed footwear, fall protection, respiratory protection and other project-specific PPE.

Work Environment

Work is primarily performed at active industrial construction, maintenance, turnaround, and customer facilities. Work may be performed in refinery, petrochemical, chemical, LNG, power generation, manufacturing, and other heavy industrial environments. Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, temperature extremes, noise, vibration, dust, dirt, fumes, moving equipment, piping systems, and other conditions typical of industrial construction and maintenance. Work may be performed around operating process units, piping systems, elevated work areas, excavations, structures, mobile equipment, and ongoing construction or maintenance activities. Work may require the use of ladders, scaffolds, elevated work platforms, fall-protection systems, ventilation equipment, and respiratory protection as applicable to assigned work.
