Occupational Therapist - Acute Care

Job Overview

We are seeking an occupational therapist to join our inpatient adult acute care team at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville!

Occupational therapists are part of an integrated team, and work with a wide range of diagnoses and conditions. In collaboration with patients and families, the OT is responsible for providing safe and effective delivery of patient care within scope of practice. This includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis, planning, intervention and establishing outcomes. We are an outstanding multi-disciplinary team of therapists, nurses, physicians, care coordinators working together for patient outcomes!

• FTE: 0.9 (authorized for 72 hours per pay period). Baylor Position.
• Schedule: Monday, Tuesday and Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm and two weekends (Saturday & Sunday) per month (Baylor) and one holiday per year.

Fairview Rehabilitation offers a range of services that serve patients across 10 acute-care hospitals, 3 post-acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs.

Responsibilities

• The occupational therapist partners with the patient and family while performing the Evaluation/Re-evaluation
• Gathers pertinent data
• Performs examination
• Determines treatment diagnosis
• Develops an individualized plan of care through coordination with the patient and family
• Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks
• Determines prognosis for recovery
• Establishes individualized goals with patient and/or caregiver
• Individualizes plan of care considering developmental level and cultural differences
• Implements and modifies plan of care based on reassessment and patient response
• Coordinates care and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team for all aspects of patient care
• Establishes appropriate discharge plan
• Partners with patients and families to provide skilled intervention
• Implements plan of care
• Alters treatment/plan of care to reflect change in patient status and response to treatment
• Assesses patient and/or caregiver learning needs and provides appropriate education
• Documentation/Billing
• Uses acceptable medical terminology
• Follows professional practice standards
• Completes documentation in a timely manner per department standards
• Complies with department billing standards

Required Qualifications

• Occupational Therapy License in the State of Minnesota or temporary license in State of Minnesota
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
• 1+ years of experience in Occupational Therapy
• 1+ years of experience acute care
• Certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy

Compensation Disclaimer

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.
