Project AccountantOur client is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support a growing portfolio of engineering and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the financial side of projects, partnering with Project Managers, and ensuring accurate billing, reporting, and contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle.The ideal candidate will bring experience in project accounting, contract billing, and financial reporting within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering & Construction) industry.Why This Role?High visibility role partnering directly with Project Managers and leadershipOpportunity to work on complex public-sector and commercial projectsExposure to project financial strategy, forecasting, and operational decision-makingCollaborative environment with opportunities for professional growthKey Responsibilities for the Project AccountantManage project setup, budgeting, and financial administration within Deltek AjeraPrepare project financial reports and provide analysis to Project Managers and leadershipSupport month-end close activities, reconciliation, and revenue recognitionManage project billing, accounts receivable, collections, and payment trackingEnsure compliance with contract terms, FAR regulations, and client-specific requirementsManage billing and reporting for public-sector projects including DOT contractsReview subcontractor invoices and coordinate supporting documentationQualifications for the Project AccountantRequired:8+ years of Project Accounting experienceExperience with contract billing, project accounting, and financial reportingStrong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principlesAdvanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial analysisStrong organizational skills and attention to detailPreferred:Deltek Ajera experienceAEC industry experienceExperience supporting IDOT, CDOT, Illinois Tollway, County DOT, or other government-funded projectsKnowledge of FAR regulations and public-sector contract requirementsExperience with subcontractor billing and compliance administration
