Project Accountant - Construction

Path Construction is seeking a qualified Project Accountant to join our organization in the Chicago, IL area and be part of the accounting team. Responsibilities: Set up new projects in the Job Cost System. Process payroll, insurance, and overhead allocations to projects. Review and track general ledger postings of construction draws for multiple projects. Ensure receipt and accuracy of Subcontractor/Supplier Waivers of Lien. Ensure compliance with Path requirements for W-9s, insurance certificates, EEO, and other documents from subcontractors and suppliers. Process accounts receivable and understand the construction billing and collections process. Follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure positive cash flow. Assist with special projects as needed. Process contracts and change orders accurately and promptly. Analyze project variances and collaborate with the project team for corrective actions. Report on project profitability to management. Coordinate with customers to meet reporting needs. Close out project accounts upon completion. Prepare government reports and tax filings related to projects. Compile information for external audits. Qualifications: Relevant experience in construction project accounting; a degree in accounting or business administration is preferred but not mandatory. 2-5 years of experience in a construction-related environment. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
