What You'll Do

• Deliver specialized nursing care to oncology and pediatric patients in a 36-bed medical oncology PCU.
• Monitor and manage high-acuity patients, including those with solid tumors, orthopedic, and thoracic oncology diagnoses.
• Utilize advanced telemetry systems, perform port access, and manage IV drips, including blood products and chemotherapy when needed.
• Follow infection prevention protocols and ensure patient safety, including fall precautions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in emergency response activities.
• Floats within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed.

What You Need

• Required:
  • Current Ohio RN license, BCLS, ACLS, NIH certifications
  • At least 2 years experience in high-acuity PCU or oncology settings
  • Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage complex IV therapies (e.g., PCA, cardiac drips)
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient communication skills
• Preferred:
  • Oncology experience, including chemotherapy and blood product administration
  • Experience with invasive procedures like PICC line management, wound care, or arterial lines
  • Prior travel nursing experience

About the Assignment This assignment takes place at a trusted facility in Columbus, Ohio, specializing in oncology and medical telemetry. The unit predominantly cares for adult patients with solid tumors, orthopedics, and thoracic cancers, with pediatric patients being very rare. The nurse will receive orientation and preceptorship to ensure a smooth transition into this high-acuity environment.
