HVAC Mechanic

Job Summary HVAC Mechanic will perform heating, ventilations, and air‑conditioning mechanic installation, preventive maintenance and repairs of environmental‑control systems and equipment. Identify maintenance risks, diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, clean, adjust, repair systems and perform warranty services. Job Title HVAC Mechanic Responsibilities Installs, services and repairs electric, electronic, pneumatic and direct digital environmental control systems in office buildings and commercial establishments, utilizing refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout. Mounts compressor and condenser units on a platform or floor, using hand tools and following blueprints or engineering specifications. Fabricates, assembles, installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment; installs evaporator unit in chassis or air‑duct system and medical refrigerators. Cuts and bends tubing and pipe, joins tubing or pipes using sleeves, couplings or unions and solder joints using a torch, forms complete refrigerant circuit; installs expansion and discharge valves. Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels, and connects panels to a power source; installs air and water filters. Performs pressure tests using nitrogen gas, checks joints/filling connections with gauges and a soap & water solution prior to refrigerant installation. Observes pressure and vacuum gauges, adjusts controls to ensure proper operation. Wraps pipe in insulation batting and secures them with cement or wire bands. Replaces defective breaker controls and installs units using electrician's hand tools and test equipment. May install, repair and service air conditioners, package A/C and chillers up to 400‑ton cooling capacity in commercial facilities. Education & Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of four years in the Commercial HVAC trade with universal certification credentials. Two to three years of experience in healthcare facilities. Valid driver's license, insurable driving record. Ability to read and write English. Must pass a company drug screen and background check. Must possess or be able to obtain a NACI (National Agency Check with Inquiries). All state or federal license requirements, or any licenses or certificates required by the contract. Physical Requirements Perform duties such as bending, squatting, kneeling, lifting, twisting, climbing, reaching, standing and walking; use hands for repetitive pushing, pulling and single‑grasp motions; frequently lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds and move objects over 50 pounds; travel by company vehicle as required.
