Job Title: Regional Nurse Consultant Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Tele/PCU RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - PCU experience - Ability to read cardiac strips - Epic preferred - First-time travelers accepted Description: This position is in a Med/Tele unit with stepdown care. The department features 32 beds. The nurse to patient ratios are 1:4-5, with occasional 5-6 on nights. PCU level care overflow on the unit maintains a 1:3 ratio. Common diagnoses include adults and geriatrics with cardiac conditions Such as cardiac catheterizations, EP studies, and pacemakers. Patients may also present with ETOH issues, Covid requiring BiPap, And occasional general surgical cases with heart history. Experience with medical patients having cardiac histories, pneumonia, Acute on chronic conditions, influenza, and sepsis is preferred. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable and set-rate drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine. There is a charge nurse on each shift who may take a light assignment of 2-3 patients. The unit does have nurse aids or patient care techs with a goal ratio of 1:10. RNs will primarily troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as Bipap, trachs, and airvo. Tele/monitor techs are available in the unit With portable monitors and monitors in the patient rooms. RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own strips. Shifts are typically from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM. If shifts rotate, the rotation will not occur more than weekly. The manager will create the schedule and consider a blocked schedule based on unit needs. Weekend and holiday requirements are every other. There are no call or standby requirements. RNs may float to all areas as needed, including PCU and medical surgical units. Scrub color is any color. Unit-specific orientation will consist of two shifts. This is primarily a tele/cardiac unit. Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius. Requests for time off must be submitted upfront and will be limited. Additional requests will not be approved after submissions. Cancellation policy allows for 4 shifts per contract, or 3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks. Experience with Epic charting is required. A BSN is not required for this position. This role is located in an acute care setting. The trauma level is 2.
