Make a difference for elementary students as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist in a dynamic, part-time contract role supporting young learners through virtual (VOCO) instruction. This position is tailored for professionals passionate about providing accessible education and making a daily impact in students’ lives.
Your work will involve directly engaging with a range of elementary students, empowering them with resources and strategies that foster both academic growth and personal independence. Working alongside educators and families, you’ll be integral in supporting individualized educational plans and ensuring every child has the tools they need to thrive.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Deaf / Hard of Hearing or relevant specialist credential
- Experience developing and delivering instruction for Deaf / Hard of Hearing students, preferably at the elementary level
- Proficiency with remote teaching platforms and technology
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with school teams, families, and related service providers
- Commitment to fostering inclusion and student engagement
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide virtual DHH support services to elementary students, tailoring approaches to meet each child's unique needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and multidisciplinary teams to adapt curriculum and strategies
- Monitor student progress, maintain thorough documentation, and contribute to IEP meetings
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, sharing strategies and progress updates
- Advocate for students’ needs within the school and community
