Construction Inspector

Bridge Construction InspectorDewberry is seeking a Bridge Construction Inspector to work on VDOT projects in the greater Northern Virginia area. To qualify, candidates must have prior construction inspection experience on new VDOT infrastructure and/or repair projects. Our commitment to excellence stems from our personal integrity and from other defining attributes, which we call "Dewberry at Work," that have inspired our employees to be successful for more than a half-century.ResponsibilitiesMonitor operations to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract terms and specificationReview and monitor contractor's plan of operation including phasingAdvises contractors of violations and reviews and recommends approval of corrective measuresIdentifies necessary changes to construction plans to meet field conditionsMakes field measurements of pay items and conducts materials testingObserves and monitors contractor's construction equipmentMaintains and reviews comprehensive project records including daily diaries, as-built plans, and pay quantity recordsSupport CM project managers with coordination and scheduling of field activitiesMay coach and/or guide a subordinate groupRequired Skills & Required ExperienceMinimum 7 years prior bridge construction inspection experience on VDOT projects requiredOSHA 10 or 30 hour certification preferredACI Field Grade I Technician certification preferredExperience in VDOT Structural Steel erection requirements preferredAdditional requirements include excellent communications skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, and ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computationsPhysically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrainsAbility to repetitively stoop, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 25 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.Don't meet every single requirement?
