Also, explain why you are interested in this position.Position Specific SummaryThe Special Projects Coordinator with the City of Tucson’s Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is responsible for coordinating and facilitating programs and engagement activities to effectively support HCD staff, carry out ongoing delivery of services, and provide programmatic support to the department director.Work is performed under the supervision of the HCD Director. This position does not supervise.Duties and ResponsibilitiesCoordinates special projects and programs by developing project timelines, coordinating project activities across departments, monitoring progress toward established goals, and ensuring timely completion of project tasks.Collaborates with HCD staff and City and external stakeholders to support the development and refinement of affordable housing initiatives, ensuring alignment with city goals by researching housing-related issues, compiling information, preparing reports, presentations, and briefing materials, and supporting the development of program recommendations consistent with departmental and City priorities. Conducts research on housing trends, policies, and best practices and analyzes demographic, economic, and housing market data to identify housing needs and gaps.Coordinates administrative and project support activities for HCD leadership, including scheduling meetings, coordinating calendars, preparing meeting materials, tracking assignments, coordinating travel arrangements, managing public records requests, and supporting the preparation and submission of materials for Mayor and Council meetings.Coordinates meetings, public hearings, and department events by preparing meeting materials, documenting meeting discussions and action items, and coordinating timely follow-up on assigned tasks. Coordinates workshops and educational resources.Coordinates activities that support the implementation of the City of Tucson’s Equity Action Plan, Equity by Design.
