Cost Estimator

Job Title: Cost Estimator Location: Houston TX 77024 (Hybrid-4 days in office/1 day remote) Duration: Fulltime Pay range: $80k - $125k Job Description It all starts with Estimating! cost estimators serve a pivotal role in planning, design, and pricing of bids for future work. As a Cost Estimator you will design execution plans and develop cost estimates for large-scale dredging projects, with the guidance and support of a team with decades of dredging experience. This position also provides a high-level of exposure to executive management with various growth opportunities. The position reports to the Vice President of Estimating. Responsibilities: Produce accurate cost estimates for hard bid projects Review and summarize key elements of project plans and specifications Ability to produce clear, concise overview drawings for presentation and discussions Ability to present the project and estimate during bid review sessions with senior management Demonstrate strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability in the development of the estimate Work closely with various support departments in a team environment Capable of effective time-management, able to prioritize various project tasks simultaneously. Offer estimating support to on-site Project Managers during execution of project Update and monitor project costs, production, and budget throughout construction. Additional duties as assigned. Required Skills Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent and relevant work experience Must possess at least one of the following: 3 years of relevant experience in the dredging and/or marine construction industry 5 years of relevant experience in a cost estimating position in a comparable industry Experience working on marine construction projects such as ports, channels, waterways, coastal restoration, beach nourishment, or shoreline protection. Exposure to dredging equipment such as hopper dredges, cutter suction dredges, mechanical dredges, barges, tugs, or other marine equipment. Field engineering experience involving quantities, production tracking, daily reports, surveying, material tracking, or assisting with project planning. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate technical information and project data. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and proficiency in standard MS Office Suite programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Effective communicator and attentive listener with excellent attention to detail. Self-starter with a willingness to learn and develop an understanding of dredging operations and cost estimating. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Willingness and ability to travel on a limited basis during training. Analytical experience utilizing Power BI or similar software is a plus.
