As a Job Coach, you will help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) achieve success in the workplace by providing individualized training, support, and encouragement.

This role is ideal for someone who is patient, compassionate, and passionate about empowering others to reach their full potential. You'll work directly with employees and employers to create an inclusive, supportive environment that promotes independence, confidence, and long-term success.

The Job Coach provides one-on-one workplace support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position focuses on teaching job skills, promoting workplace success, supporting social integration, and helping individuals develop the confidence and independence needed to maintain meaningful employment.

What You'll Do

• Provide individualized coaching and support in workplace settings.
• Teach job-specific tasks and help individuals learn workplace expectations and routines.
• Break down complex tasks into manageable steps to promote learning and independence.
• Support workplace communication, social interactions, and professional behavior.
• Collaborate with employers, coworkers, families, and support teams to ensure success.
• Monitor progress, document outcomes, and adjust coaching strategies as needed.
• Provide behavioral support and problem-solving assistance when challenges arise.
• Advocate for individuals and help ensure appropriate workplace accommodations.
• Promote independence while encouraging confidence, growth, and self-advocacy.
• Respond calmly and professionally to workplace concerns or emergencies when needed.

What a Typical Day May Look Like

No two days are exactly alike, but a typical day may include:

• Assisting an individual as they learn new job duties
• Coaching workplace communication and social skills
• Helping develop strategies to overcome job-related challenges
• Meeting with employers to discuss progress and support needs
• Documenting achievements and ongoing goals
• Encouraging independence while providing guidance and encouragement
• Celebrating workplace successes and milestones

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
• Patience, compassion, and a passion for helping others succeed
• Ability to problem-solve, adapt, and work independently
• Knowledge of teaching, coaching, or behavioral support strategies preferred
• Ability to pass required background checks
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform job-related physical activities as needed
