This role supports the interdisciplinary team by assisting with patient care activities, maintaining accurate documentation, coordinating communication, and ensuring smooth daily unit operations. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and able to balance clinical and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced hospital environment.Location: Lee Memorial Hospital IPU – Fort MyersSchedule: Part-time, weekends only (Saturday & Sunday)Hours: 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM (12-hour shifts with 1-hour lunch)Pay Range: $15–$18/hourLanguage: Spanish preferredRequirement: Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). HHA credentials are not accepted due to hospital requirements.Essential ResponsibilitiesPatient Care (CNA Duties)Provides direct bedside care under the supervision of licensed nursing staffAssists patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobilitySafely transfers and ambulates patients using appropriate equipment and techniquesTakes and records vital signs and reports changes in patient condition to nursing staffAssists with repositioning patients to maintain comfort and prevent skin breakdownMaintains a clean, safe patient environmentObserves infection control and safety procedures at all timesProvides emotional support to patients and familiesDocuments care activities accurately and timelyPatient Care Secretary DutiesServes as the communication hub for the unitAnswers phones, relays messages, and coordinates communication between departmentsMaintains patient charts, records, and electronic documentationAssists with admissions, transfers, and discharge paperworkOrders supplies and maintains unit inventorySchedules and coordinates internal requests as directed by nursing staffSupports workflow to ensure efficient patient care operationsPerforms general clerical tasks including filing, data entry, and report preparationQualificationsActive Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license requiredHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious hospital or inpatient experience preferredStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environmentBasic computer proficiencyAbility to read, write, and follow instructionsBilingual Spanish preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and assist patients (20+ pounds)Frequent standing, walking, bending, and liftingAbility to respond quickly in patient care situationsVisual and auditory ability sufficient for patient monitoring and communicationReporting StructureReports directly to the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse and receives daily clinical direction from licensed nursing staff.About UsVITAS® Healthcare is the nation's leading provider of end-of-life care, and has the resources and expertise to support your personal and professional growth.
