Product Specialist

The Financial Support Office (FSO) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is a 150‑member team providing financial advice and innovation to System leaders. The FSO empowers leaders with real‑time data, strategic insights, and industry expertise, and collaborates with key groups to strengthen financial management across the System. Product Specialists in this role are aligned with business lines supporting Product Management and partner with technology solution delivery teams to create product value for internal and external stakeholders. The position is primarily on‑site, with residency commutable to one of our Boston offices. Key Activities Collaborate with the Product Squad to ensure the right customer problem is solved, sharing market research and competitive analysis. Contribute to the Product Manager’s product strategy and direction. Research and develop ideas and use cases for new system enhancements. Recommend strategic initiatives by defining enhancements for system semi‑annual releases. Gather, manage, and prioritize the product backlog based on the roadmap. Ensure user stories are “ready” for development, with acceptance criteria and a definition of done. Test changes developed by the Product Squad and support signing off when ready for production. Conduct user training sessions and collaborate with product marketing/communications to develop training strategy and materials. Translate business value into product features through demonstrations, training materials, and stakeholder communication. Participate in effective team retrospectives. Collaborate with other dependent teams. Characteristics Work independently and lead efforts to successful completion, partnering with Product Manager, sponsor, and stakeholders. Provide thought leadership regarding industry experience and knowledge. Build credibility and trust within the team and with business stakeholders. Handle assignments of moderate to high priority involving complex analysis. Lead with influence rather than authority. Review work of others, provide feedback, and serve as a knowledge resource to less experienced staff. Requirements Relevant bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Specialized understanding of the business line industry and technology delivery or product management. Typically five years of experience in technology product management, business line industry knowledge, or related technology delivery. Knowledge of software development life cycle methodologies (e.g., Agile SCRUM). Salary Salary range: $130,300.00 – $162,900.00 – $195,500.00. Compensation is determined by background, skills, internal equity, and market data. The Boston Fed believes in salary transparency.
