Job Description

A leading academic medical center in Baltimore, Maryland is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) with neonatal intensive care experience to support a Level IV NICU within a high-acuity neonatal program.

This opportunity offers the chance to work alongside a highly specialized neonatology team providing advanced care for critically ill newborns in one of the most comprehensive NICU environments available. The ideal provider will have strong neonatal critical care experience and be comfortable performing advanced neonatal procedures.

Compensation is competitive and based on background, experience, and overall qualifications.

Position Overview
Level IV NICU (highest level of neonatal care available)
Academic hospital environment with advanced neonatal resources
Collaborative neonatology and multidisciplinary care team
EPIC electronic medical record
Travel accommodations available if needed
Paper timesheets

Schedule
Primarily night coverage
Possible mix of day and night shifts depending on provider availability

12-hour shifts
7:00 AM 7:30 PM
7:00 PM 7:30 AM

Minimum 6 shifts per month commitment
Weekend availability required

No call responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities
Provide care for neonatal patients in a Level IV NICU
Perform comprehensive neonatal assessments and treatment planning
Participate in high-risk deliveries
Stabilize and manage critically ill neonates
Collaborate closely with neonatologists, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and other specialists
Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies
Document patient care in EPIC EMR

Procedures may include:
Lumbar puncture
Direct laryngoscopy and intubation
Chest tube placement and removal
Needle decompression and thoracentesis
Umbilical arterial and venous catheter placement
Arterial cannulation via radial approach
Suprapubic bladder tap

Patient Volume
Average 6 14 neonatal patients per day

Minimum Qualifications

Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C)
Active Maryland PA license
Minimum 4 years of APP experience in Level III or Level IV NICU
Active and unrestricted DEA
Current BLS certification
Strong procedural competency in neonatal critical care

Assignment Details

Start: As soon as credentialing allows (temporary privileges available)

Contract Length: Approximately 6 months with strong potential for extension

Interview Process
30-minute virtual interview with the clinical team
Feedback typically provided within hours
