Merchandise Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee the receiving, unpacking, and organization of new stock to ensure items are quickly placed on the sales floor. Manage the setup and maintenance of displays for specific store sections, ensuring signage is accurate and promotions are highlighted following corporate guidelines. Handle opening and closing procedures, securing cash, locking doors, setting alarms, and ensuring smooth daily operations. Act as Manager on Duty when needed, responsible for store operations, staff management, customer service, and urgent issue resolution. Oversee daily activities of all store associates, ensuring effective performance and excellent customer service. Support onboarding and ongoing training of associates on store policies, product knowledge, and operational procedures. Drive store sales and control expenses by optimizing merchandising, staff performance, and customer service. Execute the market plan by arranging products and signage according to corporate guidelines and maintaining promotional materials. Ensure execution of company Inventory Integrity process. QUALIFICATIONS High school graduate or equivalent; college experience preferred. Minimum 2 years of management experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task. Creative thinking. Ability to maintain composure under pressure. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Frequently operate cash register. Frequently move merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs and place/remove merchandise up to a height of 5-10 feet. Frequently ascend/descend ladders to retrieve and put away stock. Frequently position self to kneel, bend, twist, and stoop, including in the stock room and sales floor. Frequently communicate and exchange information with customers on the telephone and face-to-face, and with managers and coworkers, ensuring accurate information exchange. Frequently move across the sales floor assisting customers, and to/from the stock room retrieving and putting away merchandise. Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet business needs, including day, evening, weekend, overnight shifts, and travel as required. Must be able to identify and discern email and print instructions regarding merchandise layouts, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures.
