Position Overview

The Commercial Business Analyst supporting the New England North Group will be responsible for assisting the sales team develop and implement strong strategic plans, drive new sales to increase market penetration and support the Sales team by analyzing data, creating reports and effectively communicating the results. In addition, this position works closely with accounting, operations and CRH groups through collaboration between the various departments, processes and developments. The individual must uphold corporate standards, maintain a high standard of confidentiality, be extremely organized, possess expert computer skills and make recommendations on findings to maximize sales and margins. Attention to detail and accuracy of work product to a high standard is essential.

The selected candidate can be based at any of our locations in ME, NH, VT, MA, or RI. 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Oversee timely and accurate monthly reporting for meetings including sales, budgets, forecasts, initiatives, quote analysis, business initiatives and call logs.
• Help organize, track and store information about our current market conditions, sales trends and prospects.
• Maintain sales team backlog and quotes for timeliness, validity and follow up.
• Coordinate monthly review and updates of material demand forecasting for both internal and external customers. Review sourcing, track accuracy and make modifications as needed to maintain a high degree of reliability between sales and production efforts. Initiate sales by location to tie into upcoming budget and review with the various departments for reasonableness.
• Track asphalt cement escalation on protected Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) contracts and ensure timely billing to customers by Sales team
• Maintain Commercial orders both CPQ and generic orders in Apex.
• Track, research, verify and process any QC/QA adjustments on state projects.
• Work proficiently with our CRM (Customer Relations Management) tool, accounting software and sales applications. Provide training as needed to sales team and identify areas where applications can be utilized more effectively in supporting sales processes.
• Review aggregate and Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) customer tier changes based on historical account information.
• Assist with development of strategic plan and oversee the market assessment update annually.
• Coordination of Customer Service efforts and continue organizational focus of customer value.
• Coordinate customer surveys, analyze results and work with sales team on follow up.
• Manage IT permissions and access the company sales apps and software (Viewpoint, Tableau, Salesforce, Q2C and Demand Forecast tool).
• Promote and focus on Commercial Performance including Key Account management, Competitor Database, Solution Selling
• Assist with customer set up in Haul Hub/JobSlip including instruction and troubleshooting issues.
• Review and approve pricing changes per location and product. Coordinate price change communications to internal and external stakeholders, prepare and request deployment files and verify change accuracy.
• Maintain Price Cards and posting on websites along with hours of operation.
• Oversee and approve Credit and Rebill requests with appropriate documentation and metrics for completing all requests in a timely manner.
• Analyze sales by facility to identify pricing opportunities and balance inventories (research details and drive results).
• Provide support for VP of Sales and Sales team as needed.
• Provide support between sales processes and material sales (resolve issues and standardize processes).
• Liaison between sales, production, QC and accounting.
• Maintain good communications with the Sales Team and other personnel.
• Ability to perform multi-tasks in a fast pace environment.
• Ability to manage time effectively and set priorities.

• Assist in promoting other important focus areas such as safety and customer service
• Display a professional and courteous attitude towards co-workers, supervisors, and the customers and general public at all times.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Qualifications

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities. Candidate must have good written, verbal and organizational skills.

Education/Experience

• Four year degree preferred; or three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Individual must possess the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization.
• Individual must possess a questioning mind and the ability to think independently. Must be able to challenge situations in a constructive manner and present reasonable alternatives including how the situation may impact other operations.
• Possess superior problem solving skills: ability to identify and investigate potential problems.
• Individual must be proficient in Excel and Microsoft package.
• Must be able to train and work with multiple software programs and become the system “expert”.

• Highly developed oral, verbal, and written communication skills and an ability to work with management and peers.
• Demonstrate effective skills in dealing with employees at all levels.
• Must be a self-starter and able to operate under general guidelines.
• Ability to perform under deadline pressure.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations and analyze data using statistics.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to develop detailed files using Microsoft Excel, Hyperion, and Viewpoint to track performance metrics and financial performance of the Aggregate, HMA, Construction and Equipment Divisions.
• Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists is required.
