Position Purpose: Under general supervision, the Docket Clerk maintains
in-house calendars of key filing and hearing dates for ongoing litigation,
schedules attorney coverage, prepares court materials, and assists with
preparing non-complex legal documents.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
- Monitors hearing docket and schedules attorney coverage.
- Enters hearing information on attorney calendar, as required
- Coordinates hearing coverage with out-of-town counsel and obtains and/or
forwards all required documentation.
* Arranges for payment of court costs, local counsel fees, publication costs,
etc.
* Reviews and assembles legal documents and materials for court proceedings
ensuring all required procedures and paperwork are accurate, complete, and in
accordance with client guidelines and applicable court requirements.
* Contacts court to confirm status of hearing and updates appropriate parties,
as needed.
* Provides attorneys with relevant hearing information, including location,
maps, court schedules, etc.
- Maintains records of trial notifications and court requirements.
- Assists with preparation of routine department-specific correspondence,
non-complex pleadings and documents,
* Conducts basic research such as title searches, estate checks, asset location
and skip tracing, as required.
* Processes mail which may include trips to the post office, bank and
interoffice mail distribution.
- Performs data entry to update notes on account.
- Follow up on status of accounts.
- Photocopies and faxes documents.
- Complete all required training applicable to this position
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 1-year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience.
* Knowledge of office practices and procedures; computer operation; word
processing software; internet research; and knowledge of legal/court
procedures and legal terminology.
* Basic math skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The expected pay range for this position is $20.33-24.78/hour
