The Oncology Technician plays a crucial role in supporting oncologists and nursing staff by assisting with chemotherapy administration and managing high patient volumes in a multidisciplinary clinical setting. This position involves hands-on patient assistance, ensuring equipment functionality, maintaining accurate data records, and upholding strict safety and quality standards. The technician occasionally participates in clinical trials and research activities, contributing to oncology care advancements.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients during oncology procedures, particularly chemotherapy administration
- Maintain and troubleshoot oncology-related equipment
- Record and manage treatment data accurately
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards
- Manage inventory of oncology supplies and medications
- Support oncologists and nursing staff in daily clinical tasks
- Perform quality control checks on equipment and procedures
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team members including oncologists and nurses
- Contribute occasionally to clinical trials and research efforts
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in oncology support/will train right cand
- State of Alaska Licensed Pharmacy Technician
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency in sterile technique
- Strong communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Effective teamwork abilities
- Good time management skills
