Special Education Secretary
To assist in keeping legal special education records such as IEPs and other records, compliance monitoring, clerical training and reaching the district's goals through the effective operation of the Exceptional Student Education Department at the school level.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least three years successful clerical experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft programs to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and other word processing applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively by oral and written means.
- Knowledge of basic office procedures and equipment.
- Knowledge of financial coding and purchase order processing.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serves as a customer service representative to school personnel and parents.
- Answers incoming calls and responds appropriately to requests for information.
- Prepares, disseminates, and maintains materials, correspondence, data analysis and reports.
- Files correspondence, records and other information in an efficient manner.
- Processes purchase order requests, orders, and payments.
- Processes, logs, and distributes all incoming records and correspondence received in the Academic Advancement office.
- Maintains confidential files and other information.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal and/or Director of Exceptional Student Education.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Working Conditions: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Human Resources Department.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
