We are proud of our workplace culture, where we respect and value our colleagues for their unique perspectives and experiences.Best Best & Krieger has an immediate need for an experienced Legal Practice Assistant with Strong litigation skills and public agency experience (CEQA is preferred but not required). Knowledge of how public agencies work, specifically where to find agendas and files maintained on the public agency websites, where and how to file documents with the state and county clerks, and how to pull documents from Granicus. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, independent self-starter with executive management skills who can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-intensive environment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook, and iManage or similar document management software.**REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:**The Legal Practice Assistant is responsible for providing support to attorneys and paralegals. Responsibilities include preparing legal documents for filing with various courts, in various jurisdictions, preparing and processing new client matter reports, providing assistance to visiting summer associates and attorneys and accepting overflow work from other legal practice assistants.## Qualifications**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:**1. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.2. California state and federal court experience.3. Complex litigation and trial preparation experience.4. Prior CEQA experience is preferred.5. Strong calendaring and proofreading skills.6. Ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities.**SUCCESS FACTORS / JOB COMPETENCIES:**1. Decision / Problem Solving Skills.2. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.2. Normal law office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, and the like.The reasonably expected pay scale for this position with 5 or more years of experience is $85,000 - $105,000 annually, non-exempt. The actual salary within that range will depend on the selected candidate’s location and experience.
