Accountant III

Location: Omaha, NE Position Summary Execute the delivery of a wide variety of accounting tasks and services in the general accounting department. This position will be integral in the preparation of campus financial statements and supporting documentation. This position will also be responsible for documenting, reviewing and modifying departmental procedures. Office operations require adherence to generally accepted accounting principles as well as UNMC policies and procedures to ensure the accounting database is accurate, complete and able to withstand considerable audit tests. This position has extensive internal and external customer contacts requiring highly developed interpersonal skills for delivering professional accounting services across a broad spectrum of the organization. Required Qualifications Must have an accounting, finance, or related field degree. (Will consider additional related post high school education in lieu of required experience) Required experience: 3 years of related professional accounting experience. (Will consider additional related post high school education in lieu of required experience) Required Computer Applications: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word Knowledge of GAAP , GASB standards and FASB Accounting Standards Codification Analytical skills for problem solving Attention to detail, ability to review work, detect and correct errors Communication skills (written and oral) to work with a wide array of internal and external customers Ability to interpret UNMC policies and procedures and apply to resolving various accounting issues and problems Ability to prioritize and complete projects on time while maintaining high quality standards Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience: 1)Experience with preparation of adjusted trial balances and general ledger maintenance. 2)Experience with governmental accounting or auditing.
