Medical Assistant LeadThe Medical Assistant Lead supports clinic operations by providing direct patient care while assisting in coordinating the daily activities of the medical assistant team. This role serves as a liaison between MAs and clinic leadership, guiding day-to-day workflow and supporting new and existing staff in delivering high-quality patient care. The MA Lead is responsible for maintaining clinical supplies, ensuring documentation accuracy, promoting team communication, and optimizing patient flow and experience, in accordance with OSHA/WISHA and other regulatory guidelines.Key duties and responsibilities of the MA Lead include, but are not limited to:Perform standard MA responsibilities including rooming patients, obtaining vitals, and assisting providers during exams and proceduresPrepare, clean, and restock exam rooms; manage clinical supplies and instrumentsDocument patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical recordAssist with phone triage, follow-up calls, and patient communication as neededEnsure adherence to HIPAA and clinical safety protocolsAct as a point of contact for MA peers, answering clinical workflow questions and offering guidanceSupport onboarding and peer training of new MAsMonitor daily MA task completion and help prioritize workload when neededCommunicate workflow issues or staff needs to clinic leadershipFoster a supportive, team-oriented environment by modeling professionalism and patient-centered careAssist in coordinating daily MA coverage and scheduling adjustmentsParticipate in team huddles and act as liaison between MAs and managementHelp track supply needs and support inventory organizationEducation/Experience:High school graduate or equivalentGraduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred, but not requiredCurrent Washington State Medical Assistant Certification preferred, but not required (see above)2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting requiredExperience supporting peers, training new staff, or coordinating workflow preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medicationsFamiliarity with or working knowledge of Electronic Medical RecordsBasic computer knowledge and skills, including data entrySuperior customer service skillsImpeccable integrityGreat interpersonal skills, demonstrating patience, compassion, empathy, and the ability to work well with all types of peopleAdherence to all safety, risk management and precautionary procedures, including consistent respect for confidentiality (HIPAA)Use time efficiently, with attention to quality, detail, accuracy, and completionConsistency, timeliness, and dependabilityEffective team membership, supporting and working with others to achieve common goalsAbility to adapt to continuous change/flexibilityDemonstrated ability to continuously learnSelf-motivated; able to work with increasing independence, overcome obstacles and challenges with little supervisionClear oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated aptitude to organize and prioritize workCritical thinking and problem-solving skillsSkilled in coping with fast-paced, often stressful situations with unpredictable circumstances in a professional, safe, and efficient mannerAbility to guide, mentor, and support team members without direct supervisory authorityAble to act as a point of contact for clinical and workflow questions within the MA teamShows initiative in identifying workflow issues and suggesting improvementsSupports a team-based care environment and models professionalism and collaborationWork Environment/Physical Demands:The work environment/physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
