Bag Jammer/Manual Encoder - Philadelphia International Airport - PHL

Location This position is located at the Philadelphia Int’l Airport in Philadelphia, PA. Responsibilities Clear bags jammed in the system as jams occur using system safety devices. Clear pusher faults and re-home pusher during a jam or fault. Clean conveyor systems and other equipment. Adhere to safety policies, procedures, and guidelines. Support general maintenance staff by transporting tools and materials. May be periodically or temporarily assigned to other areas or shifts. Maintain cleanliness and order in and around all assigned areas. Provide non-scheduled janitorial services, grounds keeping, and snow removal duties. Reset VFD faults and fire doors. Encode bags. Communicate with control room about all suspicious items. Work both inside and outside. Perform other routine helper and laborer tasks as assigned. Basic Qualifications Valid Driver’s License required. Basic literacy. Strength and dexterity to perform major duties as outlined. Ability to work from ladders and lift/move 60 lbs. Must be able to work all 3 shifts, including weekends and/or holidays, as the operation is 24/7. Standout Qualifications Familiarity with airport operations is a plus. Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear. Frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces. Ladder work required. Must work in outdoor weather conditions on an airport ramp, around aircraft, and in confined baggage conveyor areas. Specific vision abilities: good close‑proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Good hand/eye coordination required. Work Environment The work environment involves vehicular traffic, moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, outdoor weather, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration.
