Travel RN - Med/SurgAmerican TravelerWilmington, North Carolina, United StatesPosition status: OpenAssignment type: travelShift: NightsLength (weeks): 13Openings: 1$1,993.00/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Rapid Response unit requiring 2 years' recent experience and NC or compact RN licensure.DetailsMedical Surgical unit specializing in rapid response and trauma carePatient population includes severe orthopedic injuries, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, and neurological traumaTarget patient ratio of 1:5-6Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15)Accepts 36 or 48 hours per weekEvery other weekend requiredFloating required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatient holdingUses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication systemsRequirementsActive NC or compact RN license (pending OK for submission)Minimum 2 years of RN experience required within the last 5 yearsBLS certification required; ACLS preferredEpic documentation experience requiredSkills required: heparin drips, PCA, colostomy care, feeding tube management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV starts, dysrhythmia management, O2 protocol management, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE, TBI and ortho trauma care, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), nasal cannula, oral suctioning, tracheostomy management, and wound carePreferred skills include interpretation of dysrhythmias, pre/post hemodialysis management, drip management, CVA care, pre/post neurosurgery care, and spinal cord injury careMust pass EKG testing prior to startAdditional InformationProvide care for patients with severe orthopedic, neurological, and trauma-related conditionsMay be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situationsContract staff may be reassigned to units through centralized office consolidation during the assignment12-hour unit orientation and 16-hour organizational education requiredPre-start modules required (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles), completed online and annuallyNavy scrubs requiredRTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved if not on a holiday; no RTO allowed during first week of assignmentMust work 2 of 3 major holidaysTravel pairs allowed if on different units with separate transportationLocal candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rateFormer Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval requiredFirst-time travelers are welcome to apply
