Job Description

The Senior Product Manager, Salesforce serves as the lead technical expert and strategic thought partner for Uncommon Schools’ Salesforce platforms. Sitting within the Data & IT team, this role translates organizational priorities into a clear technical roadmap that supports critical enrollment, marketing, operational, and financial goals. By bridging technical execution with strategic planning, you will ensure our CRM platform delivers high-value capabilities and seamless user experiences across central teams and schools. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders, manage system architecture and data flows, and partner with technology vendors to optimize enterprise systems that directly support our mission.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Execution

• Set and champion the technical vision and roadmap for all Salesforce instances (including Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Service Cloud) aligned with organizational goals and enrollment constraints.

• Evaluate build, buy, consolidate, and retire decisions across the CRM portfolio and present investment cases to non-technical senior stakeholders.

• Identify new platform enhancement opportunities, including automation workflows within Marketing Cloud.

• Drive system roadmaps and maintenance strategies, managing upgrades, testing, backups, and integrations with enterprise applications.

Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, retrospectives, and 8-to-12-week Planning Increment sessions.

• Lead cross-functional problem-solving for complex technical projects involving multiple vendors, internal software systems, and data warehouses.

• Build and maintain collaborative cross-functional communities, facilitating communication to break down functional silos.

• Partner with Business Process Owners, Regional Superintendents, Chiefs of Staff, and School Operations Leaders to design effective system processes and workflows.

Data Governance & System Architecture

• Define and maintain data flows, system-of-record boundaries, and data handoffs between Salesforce and other core enterprise systems (e.g., student information systems, enrollment tools).

• Partner with System Architects, Data Architects, and Data Governance teams to establish record ownership, access levels, retention rules, and standard data dictionaries.

• Drive data quality across the portfolio, managing data cleansing efforts and removing technical debt.

• Ensure all CRM capabilities comply with enterprise cybersecurity guidelines, family data privacy requirements, and artificial intelligence usage guidelines.

Operations & Enablement

• Manage day-to-day platform administration, establishing policies for user access, security roles, system usage, and reporting.

• Manage vendor contracts, renewal processes, and tier-3 support escalations to ensure high performance.

• Design and deliver train-the-trainer sessions and training programs for business process owners, school leaders, and service desk staff.

• Develop and maintain centralized Knowledge Base articles and documentation covering system processes, troubleshooting, and best practices.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 5–6 years of relevant experience in Salesforce product management, system administration, or technical project implementation.

• Hands-on experience working across Salesforce products, including Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Service Cloud.

• Experience leading Agile processes, managing project backlogs, and executing multi-stakeholder technical plans.

• Demonstrated ability to design business processes, troubleshoot complex technical root causes, and manage platform governance.

• Strong communication skills with a track record of translating complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience within a K–12, higher education, or EdTech environment.

• 1+ year of experience building prompt-based tools leveraging large language models (LLMs).

• Working knowledge of help desk ticketing software (e.g., Zendesk).

Compensation

The full compensation range for this role is $117,200-$142,000.

Typically, new hires who fully meet the qualifications and experience expectations for the role will start at or near $124,300.

Starting compensation below this reflects candidates with less experience or qualifications. Offers near the top end of the range are reserved for candidates who significantly exceed the qualifications, bringing extensive experience and specialized expertise beyond what is listed.

Compensation determinations consider relevant experience and tenure with Uncommon Schools. Additionally, because we value internal growth and tenure, current staff members are not subject to salary caps within this range.

Work Environment

Uncommon is an in-person organization with a commitment to at least three days each week at our Central Office in downtown Manhattan (100 Church Street). Candidates must be based in the NYC or Newark region and be required to travel monthly to regional locations (such as Rochester, Boston, or Camden) for 2 to 3 days at a time.
