CAD Technician

CAD Design & Design AssistantKey Responsibilities:Create and modify 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks is preferred)Translate sketches, concepts, and engineering inputs into 3D modelsPrepare and optimize files for additive manufacturing, including orientation and support considerationsMaintain organized digital files and version control of design iterations3D Printing Operations:Set up, operate, and monitor 3D printers (FDM, SLA, SLS, or similar technologies)Prepare print jobs using slicing software (e.g., Cura, Orca Slicer, Bambu Studio, etc.)Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of equipmentManage print queues in project tracker and ensure timely production of partsPost-Processing & Quality:Perform post-processing tasks such as support removal, sanding, curing, and finishingInspect printed parts for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specificationsDocument results and support continuous improvement of print processesCollaboration & Support:Work closely with Product Development and Design teamsAssist in iterating designs based on feedbackSupport material selection and experimentation with new processesRequired:Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in CAD, engineering technology, or related fieldBasic proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks (preferred), Fusion 360, or similarFamiliarity with 3D printing technologies and slicing softwareStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesPreferred:Hands-on experience with FDM, SLA, or other additive manufacturing systemsExposure to product development or prototyping environmentsUnderstanding of basic mechanical design principlesExperience with post-processing techniques and materials3D modeling and file preparationMechanical aptitude and troubleshootingTime management and organizationWillingness to learn and adapt to new technologiesStrong communication and teamwork skillsWork Environment:Combination of office (CAD/design work) and lab/shop (3D printing and finishing)May involve light physical work, including climbing ladders, handling equipment and materialsProper PPE including wearing a respirator will be required for handling of some materials
