Civil Project Engineer - SUE

OVERVIEW

A Civil Project Engineer - SUE you will work with project teams in the development and completion of Sub-Surface Utility Engineering (SUE) projects, working directly with both office and field staff, ensuring projects remain within budget and on schedule. You have a degree in Civil Engineering, at least 3 years of professional experience and are registered in Texas as a Professional Engineer.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAWN WILL INCLUDE

Work with the project team to create an action plan for the development and project completion of assigned Sub-Surface Utility Engineering projects, ensuring projects remain within a specified budget and schedule. Interact and work directly with field and office staff. Research as-built record drawings from utilities as required for use in project designs preferred. Balance multiple tasks on multiple projects. Collaborate with Project Managers to identify and troubleshoot problems. Coordinate with other SUE departments when necessary. Participate in site visits, agency meetings, and municipal meetings as needed. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Move around the office including movement between floors and workstations. Use repeated motions (e.g., typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying).

WHAT YOU NEED

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. 3-5 years' professional engineering experience required. Experience with Subsurface Engineering and TxDOT-related projects Preferred. Professional Engineer registration in Texas or the ability to acquire registration quickly through reciprocity. TxDOT Pre-Certification in 18.2.1 Subsurface Utility Engineering or the ability to acquire precertification quickly is required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required. The ability to balance multiple work assignments on multiple projects at the same time. The ability to work alone but also effectively as part of a team. Process-oriented thinking with strong organizational and technical skills. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to take and understand directives. The ability to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying demands from Project Managers. Candidates are required to have a valid driver's license, pass a 3-year prior to employment DMV background check and criminal record as determined by McKim & Creed. Candidates are required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
