Job Title Pipeline Safety Engineer Salary $8,755.00 - $14,298.00 per Month (pay range depends on classification level). Final Filing Date 7/13/2026 Job Description Engineers responsible for ensuring pipeline safety, conducting inspections, developing safety plans, and responding to pipeline emergencies across California’s pipeline network. Working Conditions Headquartered in one of the following counties: Humboldt, Shasta, Butte, Sonoma, Sacramento, Alameda, Fresno, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo. Requires routine statewide travel, up to 40% of the time, including overnight stays. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and be on a 24‑hour on‑call basis. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Must maintain the Department’s Physical Fitness Standard; may be required to wear respiratory protection equipment (SCBA). Minimum Requirements Meet the minimum qualifications as specified in the Pipeline Safety Engineer classification specifications. Candidate’s education or experience must satisfy these qualifications. Special Requirements May use experience in lieu of education to meet minimum qualifications. Respiratory Protection Program clearance is required before hire. Annual respiratory clearance and fit testing required. Physical demands include running, walking, climbing, jumping, twisting, bending, lifting over 25 lb, and sustained work in emergencies.
