Job Description

Operate excavators (trackhoes) safely and efficiently on commercial and residential grading projects. Operate heavy equipment to load articulated and rigid-frame haul trucks while maintaining production and cycle-time expectations. Excavate, move, and load soil, rock, debris, and other materials according to utility construction project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with haul truck drivers, grade crews, and site supervisors to maximize productivity.
• Perform rough grading, cut-and-fill operations, ditch work, and site preparation activities.
• Monitor material conditions and adjust loading techniques to improve efficiency and reduce truck wait times.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
• Identify maintenance concerns and report equipment issues promptly.
• Maintain safe operating distances around personnel, utilities, and other equipment.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and site-specific regulations.
• Assist with other grading and earthmoving tasks as required.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in operating trackhoes and heavy equipment.
• Experience in grading and utility construction.
• Ability to load haul trucks efficiently.
• Understanding of commercial and residential construction processes.
• Familiarity with GPS and earthworks.
• Knowledge of various types of soil, such as topsoil and hardpan.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to load haul trucks in less than a minute (preferred).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greer, SC.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
