Role Overview As a DSP, you support the management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy, covering pharmacist scheduling gaps under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL). You will travel the district, fill pharmacist shifts, and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts, all while ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, patient care, and compliance with regulations. Key Responsibilities Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts, oversee the pharmacy, and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails. Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when acting as the sole or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team, and resolving insurance or medication issues. Offer and deliver immunizations, supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory, guiding the team to follow inventory best practices, especially for cold‑chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain clinical and technical skills through required trainings, CMEs, and continuous learning. Deliver pharmacist‑directed clinical care (e.g., COVID, Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible, empowering the team to provide holistic care. Understand and comply with federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing and recordkeeping. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Maintain regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within designated timeframes. Attention and Focus: Concentrate on tasks for extended periods. Pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation: Actively look for ways to help people, in a friendly manner. Notice and understand patients’ reactions, responding appropriately. Communication Skills: Use and understand verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues. Practice active listening, giving full attention, asking questions, and not interrupting inappropriately. Mathematical Reasoning: Use math to determine total tablets, day’s supply, and bottle quantities for prescriptions. Problem Resolution: Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action. Physical Demands: Remain mobile and upright for extended periods, lift, scan, and bag items, and reach overhead. Perform repetitive finger movements and typing. Lift up to 20 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs often. Communicate detailed instructions accurately. Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Benefits and Compensation Anticipated Weekly Hours: 40 Time Type: Full time Pay Range: $60.00 – $76.00 per hour, base rate or base annual full‑time salary.
