Registered Nurse - Pediatrics - Per Diem Nights

Position Summary The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensuring its consistency with the medical treatment plan. Assessment – an orderly process that involves gathering and organizing subjective and objective data about the patient, family, and significant others, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural aspects. Planning – identifying actual or potential problems and desired outcomes (goals) to produce a documented plan of care that directs the patient, family, and team. Intervention – implementing specific interventions or orders consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan. Evaluation – determining the effectiveness of interventions, drawing conclusions about the achievement of outcomes, and initiating reassessment or revisions as needed. Patients identified and prioritized relative to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self‑care, educational, and social status. Goals established consistent with the identified problems to guide patient care and health promotion. Education tailored to the identified problem and associated goals, fostering an environment that promotes patient empowerment. Employee may be required to perform limited laboratory services, including patient identification and specimen preparation, sample processing, quality control testing, instrument maintenance, function checks, monitoring, recording, and reporting test results to clinicians, and maintaining competency and certification of these tasks. Qualifications Education / License Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Nurses hired without a BSN must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year and complete it within 3 years. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or equivalent multi-state license required. BLS required. Valid NJ Driver’s License required for all employees in the Adult and Child Partial Programs. Experience Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at the time of hire. Incumbents will receive appropriate training, and skill in these applications will be required within 30–60 days from the date of hire. Performance Expectations Demonstrate the ability to perform the department‑specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Work Environment Potential exposure to hazards of the hospital environment, blood‑borne pathogens, infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. The role involves: Considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Extensive standing and walking, including stairs. Lifting approximately 25–50 pounds frequently. Lifting approximately 50–100 pounds with assistance occasionally. Pushing and pulling heavy equipment. Some departments require the ability to distinguish colors. Reporting Relationship This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
